Unrest between Kyrgyz and ethnic Uzbeks in Kyrgyzstan, now into its sixth day, is being watched closely around the world.

The official death toll of the violence stands at 170, while several humanitarian organisations put the toll at more than 1,000.

Roza Otunbayeva, the country's interim president, has told Al Jazeera that the death toll could be up to 700.

The United Nations has said that about 100,000 people are trying to flee the unrest.

Al Jazeera's Clayton Swisher sat down with Otunbayeva for an exlusive interview in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan's capital. She spoke about her struggles to bring calm to the volatile country.
