"Shaw scratches out her theory in scientific equations on an orb-shaped blackboard space on the floor, while images of her alternative lives unfold on a gauzy scrim. There’s ballerina Niamh, astronaut Niamh, happily married mother Niamh, and, finally, Niamh, the scientist and artist. In a moving dance at the end, these latter two aspects of her persona merge with the three-dimensional Niamh standing in the theatre before us." Sara Keating, The Irish Times.
'Thats About The Size Of It' was co-created by Niamh Shaw & Úna Kavanagh with Show In A Bag (an initiative of ABSOLUT Fringe, Fishamble: The New Play Company & Irish Theatre Institute) and was first performed at Dublin Fringe 2011 in Bewley's Cafe Theatre.
A theatre piece exploring our life choices through particle physics, Shaw investigates moments in her life to discover her true destiny.
The show premiered at Dublin Fringe in 2011 and had an Irish national tour in 2012, including Dublin City of Science festival in 2012 at Project Arts Centre, and at Science Gallery as part of their 'Happy' exhibition.
Through the Arts@CERN programme, Niamh visited the Large Hadron Collider, met a number of theoretical and experimental particle physicists, to interrogate the Standard Equation and String Theory as possible pathways to understand better our true life's purpose.
