The first part of any yoga practice is the period of arriving. We arrive via a short meditation to help us transition from the routine of our day to calmly abiding in the present moment. Once we have settled to presence, through simple awareness, we will be ready to move into our yoga practice. This video provides a short opening meditation that can be used before any asana practice. During our yoga practice we endeavor to be present to whatever arises: sensations, the breath, the coming and going of thoughts. Practicing this presence right at the beginning will prepare us for practicing awareness throughout the yoga practice.
