The US Coast Guard has sunk a stray Japanese fishing boat after citing its danger to shipping in the area. The crewless Ryou-Un Maru had drifted from Hokkaido to southwest of Sitka following the March 11 tsunami. The cutter Anacapa used its 25mm cannon to breach the ship's hull. The ship was sunk after a Canadian ship abandoned its plans to claim the Ryou-Un Maru for salvage. Source: Reuters
