If you're a teacher or administrator in a district with a diverse student body, you may be asking how the PARCC assessments will be tailored to meet the various needs of your students. These five experts shared their insights about this topic during a panel discussion at the first PARCC ELC meeting:

Dr. Mike Kasper -- National Education Association:
Former science teacher and director of science for the Washington, D.C., public school system.

Dr. Lynn Shafer Willner -- The George Washington University Center for Equity & Excellence in Education:
Works with cross-disciplinary groups across 18 states to create accessibility and ELL accommodation guidelines. Currently serves as member of the PARCC Accessibility Accommodations and Fairness Technical Working Group.

Dr. Mel Riddle -- Associate Director of High School Services:
Former principal at JEB Stuart HS in Falls Church, Virginia, and at TW Williams in Alexandria, Virginia. Honors include 2006 MetLife-NASSP National Principal of the Year and 2005 Virginia Principal of the Year.

Barbara Beske -- Student Achievement Partners:
Math teacher in New Jersey for over 20 years at the middle school, high school, and community college levels. Instrumental in the creation of the publishers criteria for math.

Dr. Phyllis Lynch -- Rhode Island Department of Education:
Active member of the PARCC K-12 Leadership Team and the Operational Working Group for Accessibility Accommodations and Fairness. Former classroom teacher and school psychologist. Oversaw the Diverse Learners Department at the Rhode Island Department of Education.
