A man whose father died when the man was still a boy investigates his regrets and makes some surprising discoveries.

With the help of Byron Katie, he realizes that a lifetime of wishing things had been different caused longing, despair, and blame. But with an open, questioning mind, he begins to see his father's death from the viewpoint of gratitude. "Without him I learned to stand on my own two feet," he says with a smile. "I became a world class race driver, and he never would have let me do that. Thank you, dad, for everything you did and didn't do."
