In the news this week, on Wednesday news surfaced that a private company was in January awarded a $426.9-million contract to supply 200 pre-owned motor vehicles to the Jamaica Constabulary Force and has to date delivered only 30, causing embarrassment to the Government.

In response, the Opposition Leader Dr Peter Phillips on Thursday called for an audit into the activities between the Security Ministry and the private contractor and also suggested that the Office of the Contractor General intervenes in what he described as a breach of the Government procurement guidelines.

Meanwhile, an American woman was found dead with her throat slashed in bushes near to the Long Hill main road in St James on Saturday morning.
Three Jamaicans – Morgan Heritage; Chronixx and Damian Marley — have been nominated in the Best Reggae Album category of the 60th Grammy Awards, slated for January 2018.
