June 30, 1981 FCC discussion of use of spread spectrum in commercial systems. The beginning of Docket 81-413 which on May 9, 1985 ended with the THEN controversial adoption of rules permitting unlicensed use of 3 bands. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, ZigBee and a variety of other products resulted from this rule. Dr. Lukasik left FCC shortly after this meeting. Dr. Marcus was forced out of the policy side of FCC for 7 years after the 1985 decision. (Video from FCC archives)
