Michael Shure talks with Honolulu Star-Advertiser Columnist Richard Borreca on Hawaii elections. Former Hawaii Gov. Linda Lingle (R) and Rep. Mazie Hirono (D) are running for the open U.S. Senate seat in Hawaii, where longtime Democrat Daniel Akaka is retiring. Former Congressman and Major in the U.S. Army Reserve, Charles Djou (R) takes on Congresswoman Colleen Hanabusa (D) in the General Election for Congressional District 1. The Honolulu mayoral race is at least in part a referendum on the Honolulu rail project: pro-rail Honolulu Mayor Peter Carlisle is being challenged by former Gov. Ben Cayetano who says he would stop the 20-mile project.
