Old vintage phone messages off of an old 80s answering machine mystery caller

So, I bought this clunker of a phone and it did not have a power adapter. However, I had an old 4" Black and White TV that used the same voltage adapter! I hooked the adapter up and decided to record what was there as I figured out how to play the messages.

Each time I pressed play, I could tell that the mechanism was starting to fail.

Then the unimaginable happened. The machine started to play itself - and messages became more odd. I could not move, something was holding me back as if the person who owned that phone in the past was forcing me to listen the messages. I got scared and pull the power chord out of the wall- but it continued to play the last message without any power- the phone was enchanted.
