5. Food in moderation: We have already talked about the pleasure aspect of food as a very important factor if you want food to act as a magic pill to stop ageing now. Here I want to share with you another important aspect of food as to how much of this pleasure giving food I should consume – can I really blot myself with this pleasure? That is where another crucial factor comes in, and that is the principle of moderation. Actually, this principle of moderation is quite wide ranging and is going to apply to a lot of things in life, but here let us stay with food. Moderation in food consumption is not similar to what some scientists say about calorie restriction, or once or twice a week total fasting or some other restrictions like that. Moderation in food simply means not becoming totally full at one sitting – leaving just a margin of one slice of bread, that one extra roti, that one extra dumpling or idli, another large spoonful of rice, that last 1/8th slice of pizza, or two last spoonfuls of sauce or vegetable or whatever dish you are eating. It is stopping just 10% before becoming full. Or just skipping over desert completely. I know this is most difficult to do, but try it, and within about 5 minutes of stopping to eat, you will feel that you actually do not miss that last bite. And it will stop your ageing now, if that is what you are looking for. And then the pleasure and moderation of food needs another step to stop ageing – see you in the next 2 minutes.
