POMONA- A night that began with a delay because of a power outage at Pomona High School finished with Covina surviving a furious fourth-quarter rally to win its Valle Vista League opener. The Colts outlasted the Red Devils, 16-14, stopping Pomona (2-3, 0-1) on a two-point conversion attempt late in Friday's game. Covina improved to 4-1 overall, 1-0 in league. Covina senior running back Vincent Venegas finished with 115 yards rushing and one TD. Pomona junior wide receiver Terell Mosby caught four passes for 106 yards and two touchdowns.
