Governor Dannel Malloy is trying to balance the CT state budget by raising taxes and getting concessions from government workers. On Thursday night, February 24, 2011, Malloy stopped off in Torrington on his 2nd of 17 planned town hall meetings in 6 weeks. The Governor is engaging in discussions with the people, to get a sense of how his 2012-2013 budget proposal is being greeted.

If Torrington is any example, Mr, Malloy is in big trouble. He's going in the opposite direction of most new governors, Republicans or Democrats, by raising taxes and not trimming spending. One cornerstone of his plan is to gain concessions from state union workers. Good luck on that endeavor!

Governor Malloy was introduced by the very young and very popular Republican Mayor of Torrington, Ryan Bingham.
