“She really wanted to save everybody. She just couldn’t save herself.”
When Michelle Schwartzmier’s daughter Casey died of a heroin overdose, she remembered how Casey asked her to promise to write an honest obituary. That obituary went viral online across the country and all over the world, inspiring so many individuals and families to seek addiction treatment and to know that they are not alone in this struggle.
At the Partnership for Drug-Free Kids, we are committed to helping families struggling with their son’s or daughter’s substance use. We empower families with information, support and guidance to get the help their loved one needs and deserves. And we advocate for greater understanding and more effective programs to treat the disease of addiction.
