As we all know that some plasma tv's are more susceptible to Image retention and Burn-in.And most likely cause for this is static images, station logos,Pc program icon's..etc.And those who watch the same static images,or DTH Logos day after day, that plasma tv screen is bound to get some image retention & that later it would turn out to be permanent screen Burn-in.The best way to check wheather our Plasma Tv has I.R or Burn-in is by running colour slides of pure white, grey & black.
And these colour slides are easily available in most of the Audio video online forums.Especially those threads that discuss about Burn-in and Image retention.
But this stage can be avoided if one does not view static images for long duration,Say not more than 3 minutes. And constantly changing DTH Tv channels every 30 minutes or so which has bright channel logos & also those have running stickers displaying stock market updates !
And also avoid watching 4 : 3 content which puts out pillar bars at the sides or 16 : 9 content with the top and bottom of the movies having with black bars.
Experts recommend that for the first 100 hours of viewing, display content only which fills the screen fully with no black bars.So that the phosphors of the plasma tv will break in evenly and thoroughly...Later on one could get their plasma tv's professionally caliberated for that perfect clarity and correct contrast ratio, leading to that perfect cinematic picture quality, that today's hi end plasma tv's could easily deliver.
