Newsreel 1950 Year in Review Headlines
Will There Be War Or Peace?
That question, posed by America's Warren Austin at the United Nations, is the great question facing the world at the close of the mid-century. Faced with Russian walk-outs and obstructionism, the world organization struggles with the problems confronting it.

Communism The Red Menace
The threat of communism hung like a spectre over the free world during 1950. Red rallies in Berlin, strikes in France, riots in Japan and right here at home posed a grave threat to the internal security of Free Nations.

Korea Invaded By Communist Forces
The cold war flamed hot when Red Koreans invaded South Korea in June. The action of the United States in backing the U.N. decision to resist aggression, aided by Canada and many other Free Nations of the World, brought hope for ultimate victory. But then Red China flung its limitless communist legions across the Manchurian border, and at year's end, peace in the Far East hung in the balance.

Will America Use The Atomic Bomb In Korea?
Should America resist the march of aggression with all its resources, meaning the atom bomb? President Harry S. Truman's announcement that such a course was being considered brought further repercussions from a world teetering on the abyss of darkness. In his extremity, man turned more and more to religion in this Holy Year, and more and more to the necessity of backing the United Nations if there is going to peace in 1951.
