I know this is old but, I keep seeing people post this video of a guy on the new arsenio hall show performing a spoken word piece about… the same shit don trip talking about right here, and, I guess its not that it’s a bad piece, but to be honest… its all just a little too melodramatic for me.  Spoken word is just too remote whereas this platform, this genre (rap) is far more tangible not to mention accessible.  It speaks to me, to where I come from… man, where all the bitches that HATE spoken word. That… prefer if not this, a more complete form of expression…

Quality art should put a mirror in the face of reality of the artist and expose to all the truths that birthed it for all to see. People don't have to find the truth pretty or relate to the truths expressed. People should just let that truth move them emotionally and prompt them to think more in depth about the world they reside. This does all the above. Well done.
