Mayor Reads February episode is related to Black History Month and features author and story teller Tololwa Mollel.

These videos are one of the ways that Edmonton’s Mayor Don Iveson connects to community. As a father of 2 young children and a champion for literacy as well as our public library - he understands the value of sharing books. He has countless invitations to read to school groups but can't possibly accept them all. In an effort to “share our Mayor” and connect to children (and adults) through books we have created a project called Mayor Reads. We are so pleased to have the support of EPL for this project as they are happily “sharing” with the promotion of these videos. Monthly episodes are based on books which may be related to seasonal themes or city issues that would appeal to our intended audience of elementary students and families.

Edmonton is an uplifting and inclusive city where we welcome people to come and share their stories of their past and create new stories as well. We were so pleased that Tolowa could share his story with us.
