Jonathan Nalli, CEO of Porter Health System, held a press conference July 1, 2010 to disclose the four contractors that received winning bids for the construction of the new hospital at the corner of US 6 and SR 49. The four contractors are Dyer Construction from Dyer, IN, Cives Steel Company from Wolcott, IN, Subsurface Contractors Inc. from St. Louis, and Chicago Decking Erectors from Merrillville, IN. Nalli stressed that this was not only a new building for Porter in the future but an opportunity for the economy of Northwest Indiana to recover with the creation of 600 construction jobs over the course of the 2-year building process. The new hospital is expected to be finished by the summer of 2012.
