Carson Robison was associated with Vernon Dahlert in the 1920s as a guitar accompanist, and occasionally harmonized vocally on recordings. In 1928 Dahlert and Robison's relationship ended and Robison teamed up with Frank Luther, a dance band vocalist who could sing in the same style as Dahlert. For about four years they performed country music together, a style which was to be known as hillbilly music. During their short collaboration they sold a great many recordings and influenced future generations of country singers.
