The AP has continued releasing portions of its investigation this week of the NYPD's surveillance of Muslims post 9/11. Over the weekend, they detailed how the NYPD had spied on Muslim students in over a dozen schools throughout the Northeast. Yesterday, they released details on how the NYPD expanded its surveillance to Long Island, and Newark, NJ, where plainclothes officers fanned out across the city, taking pictures and eavesdropping on conversations inside businesses owned or frequented by Muslims. They also photographed and mapped mosques. The result cited no evidence of terrorism or criminal behavior. The Guardian's Ryan Devereaux discusses.
