Looking back on the fall of 2011, there was such a strong and authentic expression of togetherness in the general assemblies of New York City and beyond.

That sense of purpose to transform our democracy to be accountable to the citizens of the country instead of the money interests of the country remains.

As the internet has revolutionized so many industries and cultures, perhaps these 'independence days' really will enable the transformation of our democracy as well.

Lyrics by Colin Mutchler
"More than 2 Sides" 2005
"And I am telling what I know, and I am singing what I see,
and I see that we've got to more than we've done before,
cause we are speaking for freedom today,
this is independence day, these are our independence days."
