BLUEGRASS MINUS 1: Tonight was one of the rare Fridays when there was no upright bass to drive the rhythm and give a full bottom to the sound. On the positive side, the absence of the bass allows you to hear the texture of the other instruments with great clarity. You may notice there is a little less structure to this duo of videos. I have done so in order to show more of the ambiance of the Jam. Welcome to Troy, a new-comer to the Jam, whose prior gig has been big-band guitar. And, watch for a new harp man at the end of Part 2. Nice to see Chris back on the fiddle and Byron on the banjo after a few weeks away. And thanks to Betty for joining in on the gospel medly. Bluegrass brings people together.
