At first the makers of this ad, DDB Brasil (an advertising company contracted by WWF) claimed it wasn't theirs. They later admitted this is a video version of the also-controversial print ad "Tsunami," which ran in a Brazilian newspaper so it could be called "published" and therefore submitted for awards.
DDB Brasil entered both ads in the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival in June 2009.
This ad was shown only at the Cannes film festival, though a print version ran in a small Brazilian newspaper just so the ad creators could say it was "published" and submit it for awards.
