Around 134 tons of marijuana went up in smoke in Tijuana on Wednesday, as authorities began burning what's believed to be Mexico's largest seizure of the drug. The drugs were seized by Mexican soldiers and police in pre-dawn raids on 3 neighborhoods on Monday, when 11 people were arrested after a shootout led authorities to the drugs. Mexican soldiers worked in teams to stack the bricks of marijuana onto a makeshift platform on Wednesday. The drugs were then doused in gasoline and set alight in a large bonfire which let off a thick black cloud of smoke. Army officials initially said the drugs weighed 105 tons and had an estimated street value of 4.2 billion pesos, (340 million US dollars). But authorities said the haul was even bigger Tuesday, counting 15,300 packages, five-thousand more than first announced. It weighed 134.2 tons.
