European antitrust chief Neelie Kroes on Wednesday gave her green light to Microsoft for installing a ballot box that allows users of its Windows operating system a choice of possible web browers when the system boots up for the first time. The approval suggest Microsoft now is a step closer to settling its dispute with the European Union's antitrust authorities.
