Allergy-safe birthday parties are possible — they just require some “extra planning,” Amanda Eisen says in her latest video blog.
Amanda’s young daughter has a severe dairy allergy and her family makes sure her birthday parties are not only dairy-free but also nut-free in case other children at the party have a peanut or tree nut allergy.
“We want her to enjoy her party and just forget about her food allergy for a little while,” she says.
A few tips and tricks:
• Have your child’s birthday party at home so you can control the environment. • A variety of allergy-safe food and dessert options are often available in stores if you don’t want to make your own. • Get your child involved in the planning and, if appropriate, the cooking.
