Nayara Goncalves, the manager: Morning
Robber: Hello. How are you?
Goncalves: (at same time): How are you? Goncalves: Good.
Robber: Trying to keep dry. I'm interested in looking at one of your phones.
Goncalves: Okay, sure. You have a Metro account already or no?
Robber: Uh, yes I do, my wife does, and I wanted to know -- how much is this?
Goncalves: $109
Robber:109, that's it? That's with service and everything?
Goncalves: No.
Robber: Oh you no longer do buy the phone, get it free?
Goncalves: Uh uh.
Robber: So how much is the first month?
Goncalves: $45.
Robber: $45. You don't suppose you're gonna be very busy today huh?
Goncalves: No.
Robber: Not with all this rain.
Goncalves: I don't think so.
Robber: Okay--I really hate to do this, um-- (unintelligible)...register.
Goncalves: I don't have any money, I just opened.
Robber: There's no way you don't have money in your register honey.
Robber: Don't get scared.
Goncalves: I'm not.
Robber: Okay, all right. Nice and calm
Goncalves: Know what? I know -- (unintelligible)...I'm just gonna talk with you about the Jesus I have.
Robber: The what?
Goncalves: The Jesus I got before you leave
Robber: May God bless you for that.
Goncalves: I'm Christian and --
Robber: Just know in mind that I absolutely hate doing this.
Goncalves: I know.
Robber: I do. I'm embarrassed I have to do this and I have no choice.
Goncalves: I was born in church and that had never happened to (unintelligible) before.
And you know what? You're young. You have beautiful eyes--
Robber (interrupts): Talk about making it harder.
Goncalves: You know you don't need this. Jesus got something way better for you. For everyone that's out there. I'm not blaming you, I'm not judging. I don't know what you are going through, but all of us are going through a hard time right now -- a very hard time right now.
Robber: That's why I refuse to do anything to anybody out in the streets. I've never done this before.
Goncalves: You know Jesus, he has beautiful--
Robber: This is so ironic
Goncalves: (unintelligible) in heaven. I'm not trying to bullsh-- you.
Robber: No, I--
Goncalves: You know I mean you have a gun. Robber: I, I...go to Calvary Chapel.
Goncalves : If you wanna come in I'm never and ever gonna—
Robber: I go to Calvary Chapel.
Goncalves: See, I've gone there too, I love pastor Bob.
Robber: Pastor Bob, pastor the Latin one --
Goncalves: Mmmmm. I love them.
Robber: I'm so sorry.
Goncalves: I go to Assembly of God.
Robber: I'm so sorry, you poor child.
Goncalves: Every day I pray to God to protect us and to protect people on the streets that may be. I don't know if you have a family, I don't know what you have --
Robber: That's why I'm doing it.
Goncalves: You know but, you know what? I can try to help you try to find a job, I have a lot of friends in charge.
Robber: I have a job.
Goncalves: You do?
Robber: Yeah.
Goncalves: Then what are you doing here?
Robber: Cause I'm going to be evicted if I don't come up with $300.
Goncalves: You mean you don't have a friend that could loan you --
Robber: I'm so sorry to do this to you.
