a Caution filled main event. winner #07 Michael Tobiason Now lately our class has been putting on some great racing with long green flag runs. I was pretty excited about my chances and having a car that I thought would work well in traffic so I wasn't too concerned about my starting in the middle of the pack. We do our parade lap and go green, it's a clean start and we are off, everyone is still clean down the back stretch but then the caution comes out going in to turn 3. It was a pretty dicey situation with some people seeing the caution lights before others and slowing down with other cars still flying in to the corner. It became a big cluster of cars and I'm surprised no one hit anything. Now I didn't know this at the time but I could see in the video that someone must have forgotten to put the gas cap on the 24 because coming out of turn 2 it was spilling all over the track. We never got a lap in so this went back to a complete restart. Another good clean start, and It's just a huge wad of cars going through the corner, I drifted back just a tad in case things started to stack up, they didn't through 1 and 2. They did through 3 and 4 and I used that to jump on the outside of the 22 and take that spot. Now we are side by side down the back and in to turn 3 when the leader spins out and clobbers the wall.

Caution 2 and one lap complete. Now I was behind the 5 again with the 22 behind me, we go green and the 22 drives in really deep in to my inside on turn 1, he got a good run and took the spot, we run that way in to the next corner and start to work on the 5 again. Then going in to turn 1 again the caution comes out for a spin. Caution 3 and 2 total laps complete. Green again, things stay pretty single file, I guess two people didn't think that was a good idea and 92 and 24 took each other out before ever getting to the start finish line. Caution 4 and 2 total laps completed. Lets try this again huh, green, single file, everything is clean for one more lap and going in to turn 1 I was able to get along side the 5. As I went in to the corner I could see a white car dive in low on the 5, I know Rick like to cut down to the bottom at the last second and he wouldn't know he was their so I tried to take my line even higher so when they collected each other they wouldn't wash up in to me. Sure enough I was right and they bounced off each other and up the track. I made the pass finally and now with my attention back up front I could see the 2 had spun out in on the turn 2 exit and then the 22 who was in front of me hit him and tore up his whole left front and was limping around in the middle of the track. More evasive action and that's 3 down this lap.

Caution 5 and 3 total laps completed. When the caution comes out everything reverts back to the lap prior too it so I didn't like that I had to give back a spot to the 5 who has been a challenge all day. There was still some debris on the track but they went green anyway, another clean lap then the caution flag again for two more cars wrecking each other between turns 3 and 4. Caution 6 and 4 total laps completed. This time the track officials couldn't figure out how to get two thousand pound dwarf cars off the track. The video mercifully cuts this out but we must have done 15 caution laps while they got those two cars off the track. Finally we go green again, and with half the field knocked out this should be easy. I battle hard to set up the 5 for a pass on the next lap as the white flag comes out, I get a good run going in to the inside in turn 3 and try to make a pass but coming out of turn 4 I start to lose the car down the front stretch and have to get out of the throttle. The 3 just nipped me at the line and took the spot. 9th place.

For some reason I don't care so much about that finish and it's probably because we only ran 6 complete laps the entire race. It was virtually impossible to get a spot unless someone in front of you had a problem or you could jump someone on the start. All the spots you would get you would have to give back because of a caution. It was a pretty miserable race, and not only from a driver perspective but for the fans as well. I can only imagine what they were thinking during that 15 lap caution and track crews being unsuccessful in removed two small cars. It takes no more than 3 people to pick up the damaged end and drag it in to the infield, and probably even less time to throw a hook on it and tow it off the track. There is no reason they need to be put on a flat-bed tow truck. Things happen and eventually you're going to get a caution filled race like this, that's just racing. There is only four more races left in the season, lets hope things are better next race.
