Often finding the right tone and timing for communicating on a topic that is important to a segment of your employee base without alienating another can be a Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) nightmare for a company.
At times companies get it right and sometimes, they get it wrong. Using the recent presidential election as an example, PRSA-SF’s D&I Committee brings together communication professionals in Public Relations and Media to discuss how to navigate this tricky and nuanced communications opportunity.
Companies like Ben & Jerry, GrubHub, Think, LinkedIn and Starbucks, to name a few, issued messages to their employees expressing hope, concern and support after the presidential election. In their messages, companies reaffirm their commitment to diversity and inclusion. Not every attempt was successful and some companies ultimately faced backlash.
During this G-Chat event, attendees will learn how, as communicators, they can help their company or client effectively strike the right tone in messaging and nail down the correct timing for sensitive communications without damaging D&I efforts.
