VINLAND MAP SYMPOSIUM SPECIAL MESSAGE! I will try to respond to comments on this video within a few hours, and I hope to be able to clarify any questions you may have about the Map. Part 6, "Making the Map" is an attempt to explain the why and how of the Vinland Map, which was probably created in 1956-57. It thus serves as a prequel to Part 1. UPDATE! Analysis of a tiny piece of parchment from the edge of the Map has been published in the journal Archaeometry (vol. 59, 2017, pp287-301): Dorte V. P. Sommer et al. "Multiple Microanalyses of a Sample from the Vinland Map". The most significant find was a substantial contamination by monostearin, which could have resulted from handling by somebody using hand-lotion, but if also found elsewhere on the map would more probably be the mysterious substance added in the 1950s to bulk up the thin parchment (the analysis confirms that microscopic examination shows damage to 95% of the parchment fibres, indicating very rough treatment !).
