ISIS, al-Qaeda and the Impact on Insurgencies in Iraq and Syria by Aymenn Jawad Al-Tamimi - CASS

"ISIS, al-Qaeda and the Impact on Insurgencies in Iraq and Syria" seminar was organised by the Centre for Academic Shi'a Studies (CASS) on Wednesday 16th April 2014 and delivered by Aymenn Jawad Al-Tamimi.

In his talk, Al-Tamimi focused on the nature of the split between the Islamic State of Iraq and ash-Sham [ISIS] and al-Qaeda and how this impacts insurgent dynamics in Syria and Iraq.

Aymenn Jawad Al-Tamimi is a student at Brasenose College, Oxford University. His research on jihadi groups in Syria and Iraq has been widely cited in international media, including the New York Times, the Washington Post, Reuters, and the Financial Times.
