My own little friends enjoy their eggs too.
Which came first? I dont know, but I know which is still around after 30 seconds!
Dont worry about the 20 second mark Hen, she had her share :)
On farms, Hens who *dare* "steal eggs", ie a Hen eating the egg *she* just laid are killed, with farmers outright declaring you have to "catch the egg thief" before "IT" somehow "teaches the others" what Hens often naturally do - eat their own unfertilized eggs. To think otherwise is rather like "...showing your grandmother how to suck eggs...", showing someone something they've known before you were born :-)
Hens lay eggs as part of their female cycle, they may not be mammals, they do not produce milk for their young but they do have eggs to be fertilized, as do all female animals. We can either try to get rid of the eggs (burying them etc), but they are well known for creating a terrible smell as they compost, so why not simply let the Hens (and Roosters) have their own eggs, as they rather enjoy!
