Our friend +Adrian Speyer from Vanilla, one of the CMAD Award Sponsors for 2016 (http://cmad.co/awards), reached out to let us know they've published a new white called The Community Manager’s Survival Guide (http://pages.vanillaforums.com/commun...) to help community professionals learn how to handle various tricky situations including consistently negative and angry members, the consistent, line toeing troll, suicide threats, moderation team fumbles, reports of harassment and legal threats. Obviously we couldn't resist creating a panel around this.

Join us for this week’s #CMGRHangout panel on Friday, January 15th at 2pm EST/11am PST to discuss how to survive as a community manager when the going gets tough.

+Jonathan Brewer, +Dom Garrett and +Sherrie Rohde will be hosting the hangout with +David DeWald, +Patrick Groome, +Jenn Lebowitz and +Kelly McNamara on panel. +Christin Kardos and +Carrie Keenan will be moderating the Twitter chat using #CMGRHangout .

Discussion Questions

1. What's your biggest struggle to overcome when you think of "surviving" as a Community Manager?
2. How do you stay calm when confronted with, or dealing with, negative and angry members?
3. How do you handle the consistent, line toeing troll?
4. What do you do when a suicide threat pops up in your community?
5. How do you work with your moderation team when they fumble or flake out?
6. What plan do you have in place to handle reports of harassment (code of conduct, etc)?
7. What's your escalation path when receiving or witnessing a legal threat in your community?

Let’s discuss ways you can attend:

Watch: You do NOT need to join the hangout. Just stay on the Google+ Event and you’ll see the video on YouTube. (Don’t worry, it will be there and start playing as soon as the broadcast begins.)

Talk and Be Seen: If you decide you want to talk, not just watch, please let us know in advance. (We will only invite a few people for this event, so let us know why you would like to attend.)

Chat: You can watch here and/or follow the conversation on Twitter using #CMGRHangout .

If you join us on the hangout, a wired internet connection is preferred and if you have a headset with mic or earbuds, that works best for the audio. You will also need a working webcam.
