184 The World Enters the Church - Pergamos and Thyatira

This message focuses on the worldly influence brought into the church by the Emperor Constantine. Whether or not Constantine was born again has been a matter of discussion for centuries; but, he decreed an end to the bloody persecution of Christians. Since the emperor was a professed Christian, it was now an honor to have that "title," as it opened the door to many advantages, politically and in commerce. In this way, a wide-open door was provided for the worldliness to enter the church. Many were "professors" but not possessors of eternal life.
In these messages, if you are somewhere that you cannot follow along in your Bible, the verses are displayed on the "screen." Pastor Younce also delineates many non-biblical practices (traditions) brought into the church and these are also displayed. He emphasizes these were not in the church before approximately 500 A.D. and are not taught in God's Word; but were brought in by the men of the Roman Church at their councils.
"Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. (30) Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar." (Proverbs 30:5,6)
