In Kammer 1 und 2 einer Reaktionsplatte wurden 2 Kupfer(II)chlorid-Lösung in Reihe geschaltet und zwischen Bleistift-Minen elektrolysiert. Diese elektrolytischen Zellen dient in dem Videoclip als Spannungsquelle zu Elektrolyse von Kaliumiodid-Lösung in Kammer 3.Rötung von Phenolphthalein an der Kathode zeigt Hydoxid-Ionen an, die Braumfärbung um die Anode deutet auf Iod hin.
In well 1 and well 2 of a wellplate6 two copper(II) chloride solutions were electrolyzed between pencil lead electrodes. The result is a copper chlorine battery that powers an electrolysis of an iodide solution and a drop of phenolphtalein indicator in well 3.
Red colour around the negative electrode indicates OH- ions, yellow colour around the positive electrode proves that iodine was formed.
