The Rescue Foundation is a non government organization (NGO) based in Mumbai, India. It is recognised by the government under sec 21 of the immoral traffic (prevention) Act of 1956. The main goals of the organization consist in combating trafficking in girls and children in rebuilding the lives of trafficking victims through rescue operations, rehabilitation and repatriation. The Rescue Foundation also works towards Prosecuting criminals involved in trafficking and Sexual abuse of minor aged victims. The majority of trafficking victims who are sold to brothels in western India are from North eastern states of India, Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh. Till date the Foundation has been Successful in rescuing and repatriating more than 900 trafficked girls and children.
