Sonic Visualiser ( http://www.sonicvisualiser.org ) is useful for getting insight into music recordings. Here we look at two different recordings of Bach's first prelude, both played on harpsichord but tuned to different temperaments. We sync the recordings together using the Match plugin, and automatically determine the temperament using the Tempest plugin. We also use Sonic Visualiser's built-in features to help dig into the music.

Sonic Visualiser is made by the Centre for Digital Music, at Queen Mary University of London: http://www.elec.qmul.ac.uk/digitalmusic/ . So too are the Match and Tempest plugins!
