Now here's an interesting and "new" game; you liked Doom 2? Well, what if you could play a first-person shooter style Mega Man game where you frag guys? If you're looking for something like that, then have I got some good news for you; you're in luck! To make it even better, what if the game was as retro as Mega Man's old NES outings and not some modernized "aliens in space" crap? Well, today you get to have your cake and eat it too.

From Cutstuff.net comes MM8BDM, or...well...read my video title. The game is a fan project that has had videos months ago (earlier builds) but from what I can tell, the game has been made official on October 8th, of this year. The game runs very smoothly and has numerous weapons across several maps and you can change your "skin" to be one of several Mega Man characters. There is a simple story, and some great 8-bit style music too along with loads of customizable options.

However, I must point out a couple of issues that I have with the game. The controller settings are WAY too sensitive, even on the lowest setting. Every time I try to strafe with my right analog stick and move with the left, my aim is constantly sliding up or down, throwing off my aim as I try to shoot and evade. Also, the CPU is both super cheap and idiotic at the same time...you'll see it plenty of times watching this vid. The computer easily slides and glides across the room, attacking with nearly flawless accuracy and speed, seemingly moving faster, shooting faster, and strafing faster than anything I'm capable of doing. However, while I didn't want to demonstrate it to save time, the CPU hates climbing ladders; meaning, I could kill them all simply climbing a ladder and shooting down at them, ocassionally coming down for health.

However, the bots will just run around fragging themselves, making it annoying to be the first to reach 20 frags. Another thing? The CPU constantly steal your frags man. I'll shoot them like a billion times and when I think my shot killed them, the CPU earns the kill...let them shoot me like three times with nearly any weapon and I'm dead. Does this mean the game is hard or unbeatable? Not at all. The CPU is a sucker for getting shot while coming around corners and they're also fans of death pits (for stages that have them). Shoot them when they are coming around a corner and they'll slither back in the opposite direction and try to "inch" around the corner...which makes it worse for them because they're more stationary than if they just tried to zip the corner and come firing at you.

However, when they move and chase you, it's really problematic; you try to shoot them and they dodge almost masterfully at times; they even dodge the reflective shots that bounce off of walls; even when it's freaking coming from behind (mind you, it's a FPS, you can't see what's behind you) or out of nowhere! They literally have eyes in the back of their heads.

Still, the game is enjoyable once you learn how to exploit the CPU to an extent (or you can play with friends). Go to the site below to get the game:

This is a video showing some stuff in the game. It may take a while to process. Enjoy.
