Epidurals are commonly associated with labour although are used widely in other medical procedures and the treatment of chronic pain, particularly in the back. In this short film see how the epidural injection procedure is performed.

Consultant Anaesthetist, Daman Mulhi explains the epidural procedure which involves the placement of a small plastic catheter within the epidural space. Epidurals are often used during childbirth although frequently can be administered before an operation or for pain relief after the operation is complete.
