A small step for man, but a large step for a robot. A first demo of how Ikaros can be used to control a humanoid robot. Here, a fixed sequence of movements is executed by a BIOLOID Premium robot. Each movement is made to automatically correct for small physical disturbances to allow the robot to climb the stair even without sensory feedback.

Each step is about the same width as the robot so there is very little space for the robot to turn around after climbing up the step. Unfortunately, the second step is approximately 5 mm higher which makes it necessary to use a different motion sequence. Using the same sequence again will make the robot fall down the stairs.
