Business process improvement (BPI) is an intrinsic aspect of effective business process management (BPM). And looking for that competitive edge is what drives business process improvement. Yet organisations have a strong tendency to stay in their comfort zone, and they are averse to the organisational change that often accompanies BPI. These conflicting drives are well worth looking into. We asked Prof Michael zur Muehlen of the Stevens Institute of Technology in the USA to share his views on business process improvement.
