Directed by Mariexxme and shot in Paris. The live footage was shot in Raleigh & Chapel Hill by Dana Calistri and Jeanne Snodgrass.

"I'm a dark person lyrically," says Free Electric State's bassist and singer Shirlé Hale. "Loss, lust, regret—those things, they just come out."

This comes as no surprise to those Shirlé keeps close. She has endured more than her fair share of darkness and loss over the years, having lost her first love to a car accident, her best friend to heroin, and even the teacher who first taught her to love music, at age six. On Free Electric State's debut album, Caress, the weight of Hale's lyrics is matched by the enormity of the band's sound, looming like a tsunami on the horizon before surrounding listeners with lush textures that recall My Bloody Valentine and Sonic Youth.

The first single from the upcoming album, "Six Is One", captures the wide swath of emotions endured while trying to love and support someone who is completely self-destructive, and the frustrating realization of what may be the only help you have left to offer.

Mariexxme is a French filmmaker and animator. Her animation work has been featured in the Academy Award nominated film Persepolis. She has shot and edited live videos by The Jesus Lizard, Melvins, Sparklehorse, Mono & Melt Banana to name a few. This is her 3rd "proper" music video having completed videos by the English band Senser and Alternative Tentacles' Alice Donut. And finally, she just completed her first documentary on the San Francisco noise-rock band Oxbow.
