A leaked memo shows that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan can resort to blackmail in his relations with the EU, which is suffering greatly from a refugee crisis. “We can open the doors to Greece and Bulgaria anytime and we can put the refugees on buses,” threatened Erdogan, who’s a gatekeeper to enormous flows of displaced people from war-torn Middle East and North Africa, unless Europe provides additional 3 billion dollars annually for Turkey’s “help” to contain the exodus.
