On June 17, 2016, Dr. Khalid Koser, Executive Director of the Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund (GCERF), joined the discussion on "The Power of Gender in Preventing Violent Extremism" which was organized by the Geneva Centre for Security Policy and the Australian Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Geneva. Along with Dr. Koser were Maud Roure, Head of Learning and Policy of Interpeace; Ambassador Suraya Dalil, Permanent Representative of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to the UN; Ambassador Christian Dussey and Ambassador Natasha Stott, Australia’s Ambassador for Women and Girls.

Among the questions the panel addressed were: What does a gender sensitive approach to PVE look like? How do we translate these proposals into practice at the local, national and international levels? How are women and girls impacted by the rise of violent extremism?
