Southwest Detectives Division is looking to identify the suspect who attempted to rob a taxi cab driver in Belmont.

On March 27, 2014, at 6:30am, a taxi cab driver picked up a an unknown male at 40th and Chestnut Streets who told the driver he needed to go to the 4200 block of Westminster Street. When he arrived at his destination the suspect exited the taxi and pulled a handgun demanding money from the driver. The driver was able to drive away from the suspect before any money was taken. Surveillance video of the suspect was recovered in the area of 40th and Chestnut Streets prior to the robbery.

Suspect Description: Black male, 45 years-of-age, 5'7″, medium build, wearing a hooded sweatshirt carrying a large bag or package and has a distinctive walk.
