Blumke Katz (Bliuma Kac) [1913–2006] recalls the famed Vilna scholar Khaykl (Chaikel) Lunski [c. 1881–1942/1943], one of the great scholars of Jewish Vilna who achieved near legendary status in his lifetime as "The Guardian of the Jerusalem of Lithuania". Blumke rented a room from him in Vilna during her time as a student in the city in the 1930s. She frequently consulted with him during her visits to Vilna's Strashún Library where he was chief librarian.
