Hundreds gathered to participate in the 19th annual Sweet Corn Fiesta in Palm Beach on Sunday, a traditional celebration of the maize growing season.

Hungry competitors dance, eat, and join the Major League Eating's National Sweet Corn Eating Championship.

The corn eating competition is one of the highlights of the event, in which the participants need to stuff as much corn in their mouths as they can in 12 minutes. Winner Gideon Oji ate 57 pieces!

"I feel good, winning feels good, so that's all I feel right now. I can promise you that I'm going to grab some food by the end of the day, you know, to put a different taste in my mouth, so yeah, winning feels good," he said.

The festival is family friendly, featuring children's games, music, and of course, mouth-watering local food.

"We have the most diverse produce in the country, that you can come here and you can have sweet corn, you can have sugar cane, you can have tomatoes, oranges, any type of product on your table literally grown right here," said one of the attendees, Ali Ritz.

The annual Sweet Corn Fiesta is organised by the Western Palm Beach County Farm Bureau, co-produced by the South Florida Fair and presented by the Sunshine Sweet Corn Farmers of Florida. Palm Beach County grows more sweet corn than any other county in the US.
