Pope Francis spoke on the eve of the 60th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome celebrations. The leader of the worldwide Catholic Church said that solidarity among men and countries is "the most effective antidote to modern forms of populism", as he spoke to 27 European leaders at the Apostolic Palace in Vatican City. Pope Francis has in the past supported open borders, refugees and a multi-religious Europe.
