SCB had a vision to provide effective 24x7 services to their customers with higher levels of access and availability keeping them ahead of their competition. With POWER7 technology, SCB now delivers continuous access for their customers, adds capacity dynamically as their business needs change, all while looking ahead to building future products and services that meet their customers needs.

SCB took advantage of IBM's migration capabilities and Power servers consolidation capabilities and moved over 100 applications from inefficient and costly servers onto Power. More importantly, through consolidation and migration of costly applications, they realized software savings by having fewer cores, better system utilization, and increased workload speed. POWER7 reduces the cost and complexity of IT infrastructures by spending less time on systems administration, maintenance and troubling shooting.

Power Systems helped SCB to achieve increased up-time by upgrading to POWER7 technology. Investing in a transition to POWER7 resulted in improved performance, increased software savings while reducing their core count by 75%, all while increasing system utilization rates.

With Power Systems Capacity on Demand and PowerVM virtualization, SCB is outpacing their competitors by delivering services faster, differentiating their offerings by delivering higher quality services, and turning operational cost into investment opportunity by delivering services with superior economics.

Here's an IDC Study titled "IBM Power Systems and Their Support for Business Resiliency in Challenging IT Environments" which provides a comprehensive analysis on how to protect the continuity and availability of business-critical applications and services, providing a robust foundation for cloud deployment.
